I need a break!

It has seriously been go, go, go, go for me and my family over the past two weeks! Two weeks of this semester are over, with just a few (haha!) more to go.

The good thing? I love nursing school?

The bad thing? I don't have time for anything else!

I'm not busy studying, but just being everwhere I'm supposed to be is challenging enough! Clinicals are going well (even if I did have a patient who had 26 meds!), lab is going well, and I haven't had a test in my theory class yet so that is going great!

In addition to school, I'm busy running. My goal is to run 15 miles/week. I've only done 9 this week (and tomorrow is Saturday!) so I need to do 6 tomorrow. That's not a big deal. I did my 10K (6.2 miles) in 59:01. Not fast, but good enough to make me happy. That's about 9:30 minute miles.

I'm also still teaching piano lessons. The annual recital is June 2. I still enjoy teaching, but I'm looking forward to cutting down my studio some once I start working. It'll be hard to let some of the students go, but for my sanity (and that of my family), I NEED to cut down!

The family is doing well. Mandy is still reading like crazy, absorbing everything she can. She reads her children's Bible religiously and loves to give me the story summary. She participated in a bike-a-thon at school today, too. Kayla is continuing to specialize in being cute and energetic. Luke is super busy with work. He's starting a new position in the company (a positive step for him!), on top of taking 12 credit hours toward his MBA. We never have time to breath! Thankfully, we are really focusing on our family and being purposeful in our time together.

I think that's about it for now (isn't that enough!)

Back to reality!

Phew! What an eventful few weeks it has been! The cruise I went on was a lot of fun (although, I have to admit I wasn't overly impressed with Carnival cruise lines). Seeing my mom celebrate her huge accomplishment of losing so much weight was fantastic! I was able to speak a LOT of Spanish (haven't forgotten as much as I thought I had), see a lot of amazing sites, and have a really good time relaxing. I missed my husband and kids like CRAZY, so it was really good to see them when I got back.

I'm back to reality with classes now. I have 6 hours of class, 6 hours of lab, and 16 hours of clinical EVERY WEEK. Oh yeah--homework on top of that. Add to the mix my training for some runs (I'm donig a 10K on Saturday), teaching piano, and spending time with my family, and you have a pretty exhausted person! I'm just going to get through it, a day at a time. I won't worry about tomorrow as tomorrow has enough worries of its own :-) I tell ya, I honestly think Jesus was thinking of ME as He said those words!

My clinical rotation seems to be amazing this time. My instructor is great, the nurses with whom I work actually enjoy students, and the patient population is, um, DIVERSE! I'll leave it at that! Lots of interesting and disgusting things to report :-)

And on that note, I'll end the blog!
